Atkins, Jeannine. Anne Hutchinson's Way. Farrar, Straus & Giroux: 2007. ISBN: 0374303657.
The Hutchinson family originated in England, but are moving to Massachusetts, in 1634, because they are Puritans and want the freedom of religion. When they arrive, the main character, Anne, finds her family that has moved there earlier. Later, her mother does not agree with what the minister is preaching, so she holds meetings with the townspeople and preaches what she believes is right. She gets punished for this, but what will the punishment be considering that only men can go to jail? Will she eventually get out of her punishment?
This book was a great story and had a good, factual story line. The illustrations were very detailed and interesting. This book also had a very good theme. I would recommend this book to third to fifth graders who are interested in history.
