Cole, Brock. Good Enough to Eat. Farrar Straus Giroux: 2007. ISBN: 9780374327378.
Scraps-n-smells, Skin-n-bones, and Sweets-n-treats were the different identities of one girl. This girl was a pest to the people in her town, but they ended up needing her when an ogre came. She first met the ogre as Scraps-n-smells. The ogre refused her so she went back to town and said "I need a sword." She then went back to the ogre a second time as Skin-n-bones. The ogre refused her again so she returned home for her dowry. This last time she went to the ogre as Sweets-n-treats and the ogre ate her up. By using her wits, she was able to escape the ogre.
I recommend this book to second through fourth graders because there is some violence that younger kids don't need to see. Also, I think that age range would enjoy it the most and be able to read the italicized words.
