How the Ladies Stopped the Wind

McMillan, Bruce. How the Ladies Stopped the Wind. Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 2007. ISBN: 978-0-618-77330-5.

How the Ladies Stopped the Wind is about the ladies of one village in Iceland trying to make it less windy. The ladies planted trees that would grow tall and stop the wind. The ladies had to figure out ways to prevent the sheep from eating the trees while they tried to encourage chickens to make fertilizer for the trees. This book was very had for me to focus on, I always got sidetracked. Some pictures and statements did not need to be in; (page 16) the cake and doughnuts did not have anything to do with the storyline. I do not think a kid could focus on it, they have short attention spans. I would recommend this for soemone who is 3rd grade and up with a long attention span.
