Hopkinson, Deborah. Sweet Land of Liberty. Peachtree Publishers: 2007. ISBN: 9781561453955.
Sweet Land of Liberty is a non-fictions book about a boy named Oscar. When Oscar is very young he is surrounded by injustice of equal rights and does not agree with even his own family's behavior. After being suspended from school for mounting a picture of Abraham Lincoln on his classroom wall, Oscar is determined to fight injustice. Later down the road, he becomes the Assistant Secretary of the Interior for the U.S. government. Oscar is in charge of helping to organize an African-American female singer's concert. They were rejected from Constitutional Hall, where it was supposed to be held. Could Abraham Lincoln somehow solve injustice once more?
It was an inspiring children's book, probably for about third grade.
