Vinnie and Abraham

FitzGerald, Dawn. Vinne and Abraham. Charlesbridge: 2007. ISBN: 9781570916588.

This non-fiction book is about Vinnie Ream and her dream to sculpt Abraham Lincoln. The book follows her path from when she was a child and learning to love sculpting to when she is a young woman and moves to Washington D.C. Her dream was to sculpt Abraham Lincoln and she would not take "no" for an answer. She tackles many hardships to get to her dream, such as people doubting her because she was a woman, but she never backed down.

I liked this book very much because it has historical facts but connects it to a story that is very interesting and more fun to follow. I would recommend this book to 2nd-4th graders because it has a lot of pictures but yet it has facts. It also has a very good message. I would also recommend it to kids who are interested in history or art.
