Forsyth, Adrian. How Monkeys Make Chocolate: Unlocking the Mysteries of the Rainforest. Maple Tree Press Inc: 2006. ISBN: 9781897066775.
This book is about all the different kinds of food and plants that people in the rainforest use; such as the sweet pulp in the cocoa beans. That is the monkey's favorite food, and us humans use it to make chocolate. Another appetizing meal is a bowl of fresh fruit, such as ripe cherries. The colors and oily gloss attract monkeys and birds. Another odd thing the rainforest produces is a tree called the chicle tree. There are many more foods that come from the rainforest but the last one I am going to mention is the nuts. They are very hard and only special animals, like the parrot and agoutis, eat them.
I really enjoyed this book. I also learned a lot. The pictures are great and my favorite one is on page 17 and it is a monkey. I also learned about many new foods, like the cupuacu. I would recommend this book to ages 10 to 15 because it has a lot of text and complex words.
