Loue, D. Anne. Of Numbers and Stars. Illustrated by Pam Pararone. Holiday House: 2006. Ages 12 and up.
This is a story about a girl named Hypatia who lived in Alexandria. Her father wanted to teach Hypatia everything he knew because in Alexandria women weren't educated so thats why Hypatia's father taught her everything he knew. Hypatia's father was a professor at a University. I loved the art in the story because the art was very detailed. I thought the art made the story intresting to read. I would recommend this story to kids that are older because the story had some higher words for kids younger than ten years old. I thought the story was very educational about the life of Hypatia and how she learned from her father and became very smart.
