Maggie and Da set sail for America heading for New Orleans. Some people would laugh at her. Black people would sometimes stare at her because she was white. Some people made their money gambling. At the end they are free to choose who they will be! The illustrations for this book were good. The clothing was old fashioned. On some pages the colors were a little brighter. The lights they used were old. I would recommend this book to other kids because this book is very good. It taught me how important freedom was back then.
