Cecily G and the 9 Monkeys

Rey, H.A. Cecily G. and the 9 Monkeys. Houghton Mifflin Co.: 2007. ISBN: 9780618800667.

Cecily G. and the 9 Monkeys was the original story that introduced the world to Curious George. He was one of the nine monkeys that met Cecily the Giraffe. Cecily was sad because all of her family were taken away to a zoo. The cure for her loneliness was this family of monkeys, who used her as a bridge, a ski-slope, a teeter-totter, a sailboat, and many other unique items. The book ends with a history of the author, H.A. Rey, and how the Curious George books came into existence.
Cecily G. was wonderfully illustrated and well written. It would be enjoyed by children of all ages, but especially younger ones (2nd-5th grades). I enjoyed reading it as an adult and remembered having Curious George books read to me as a child. I found the end section about H.A. Rey fascinating and very informative. I would recommend it to anyone who likes Curious George.
