Sturm, James. Satchel Paige: Striking Out Jim Crow. New York: Hyperion, 2007. ISBN: 978-07863900-1.
Satchel Paige, a well-known African American baseball pitcher's story is told by Emmit, a young former baseball player, who had once played against Paige. Emmit's dreams of becoming a baseball legend is shattered after an injury in a game, and his point of view is expressed throughout this moving story. This graphic novel's story illustrations and ideas are truly unforgettable, for it was enjoyable in every way. The author did a fantastic job portraying this unique point of view and I definitely recommend it without a doubt. A recommended age group would be mid-school age children, due to some language and seriousness of the subject. This is also suitable for an adult audience making it great for families as well.
