Hicks, Terry Allan. Ellis Island. Marshall Cavendish Benchmark: 2007. ISBN: 9780761421344.
This book, Ellis Island, is mostly about immigration to America. During the late 1800s and the early 1900s, immigrants from the U.K., Ireland, Poland, Russia, and other places in the world experienced a time of "America Fever." Many of these people came to America because of hardships, jobs, or to start anew. The immigration station on Ellis Island has not always been there. This station was built only because there were so many immigrants entering into America that the Castle Garden immigration station in Manhattan was too small. Ellis Island was officially closed on November 12, 1954. Then, in 1984, Ellis Island was in the process of being restored. Now, Ellis Island is one of the most popular tourist attractions in New York. It is now the Ellis Island Immigration Museum.
